Legal Counsel for trade insurance group @ Brussels

This AA-rated European trade insurance group provides products covering risks worldwide. The group’s member firms count over 450 employees, more than half of whom work from Brussels. For the HQ in Brussels the Legal & Claims department is looking for a Legal Counsel.

You will join a team of 6 legal counsels in the Legal & Claims department which is responsible for legal advice in relation to a wide range of corporate and core business related activities.
More specifically you will:
- Be involved in a broad range of legal matters (mainly in the field of financial, insurance and company law) in an international context.
- Manage corporate law matters on group level and monitor the legal environment in which the member entities are active.
- Advise on and follow up complex commercial transactions. You give legal assistance, if necessary on-site, and negotiate international debt restructuring proceedings.

- Master degree in law, with additional training in finance/corporate law.
- 3-5 years of experience in a well-reputed law firm.
- Experience in corporate law, financial law and/or insurance law, preferably in an international context.
- Fluent in Dutch, strong proficiency in English and French.
- Strong communication and written skills.
- Interested in the financial aspects of all international commercial transactions.
